CommentaryCast

Colby and Brian (aka The Moderate Fanboys) talk through your favorite and least-favorite comic book movies! Unlike most of the content on this site, the CommentaryCast can be a bit NSFW (we like swearing) so listen at your own risk. These tracks are recorded while watching a comic-based-film and can be listened to on their own or in conjunction with said film. Special thanks go to Glenn Case (for the use of the recording hardware and hosting the files) and Brian Baer (for editing the sound and ensuring it cues up with the corresponding film). Do you have a suggestion for a future CommentaryCast? Let me know in the comments!

NOTES:
-Recorded in July 2014.
-Based on the DC/Vertigo comic book Hellblazer.
-FACT CHECK: Jamie Delano wrote Hellblazer: Pandemonium, not Andy Diggle.
-FACT CHECK: Russell Crowe starred in Noah...not Moses.
-The character of John Constantine was created by Alan Moore and Steve Bissette for the comic Swamp Thing.
-For a more accurate take on the character check out NBC's Constantine TV series.

NOTES:
-Recorded in September 2014.
-The character was adapted to the screen once before in 1995 with Sylvester Stallone playing the title role in Judge Dredd.
-Judge Dredd and the world of Mega City One was created by John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra for the comic 2000 AD.
-The character has been adapted to multiple comic series by multiple publishers.
-A sequel comic (Dredd: Underbelly) was published shortly after the film.
-FACT CHECK: At one point I misidentify John Wanger as Matt Wagner...a different comic book writer.

3. Daredevil: The Director's Cut (2004 DVD)
NOTES:
-Recorded in October 2014.
-The character was created by Stan Lee and Bill Everett in 1964.
-Daredevil was first adapted into live-action in the television movie The Trial of the Incredible Hulk from 1989. He was played by Rex Smith.
-FACT CHECK: At one point I misidentify Karen Page as Ellen Page (inserting Ellen Pompeo's first name). The actual Ellen Page does not, in fact, have AIDS.
-A new Daredevil television series, set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, premiered on Netflix. It stars Charlie Cox and the first season is currently available to stream.

4. League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003 DVD)
NOTES:
-Recorded in December 2014
-FACT CHECK: I misidentify Black Arrow as Black Spider, a DC comics villain. Also, the other character in the portrait is Ivanhoe, not Robin Hood.
-FACT CHECK: At one point, I misidentify "Edisonade" characters as "Edison Age". I apologize to the 2two of you who noticed that.
-For more info on the Cast of Characters lawsuit, check out this link.
-The newest chapter of the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen comic is titled Nemo: River of Ghosts and was released in March of 2015.
-In 2013, Fox announced plans to adapt LoEG into a TV series. Since then, there's been no word on if it's still moving forward.

5. Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World (2010 Blu-Ray)
NOTES:
-Recorded in January 2015
-Scott Pilgrin was created by Bryan Lee O'Malley and was published by Oni Press.
-Lucas Lee is one of Chris Evans' many, many CBM roles.
-The original comic was published in black and white, but the entire series has recently been colorized for new hardcover editions.
-This is Edgar Wright's first foray into comic book movies. I'd say it turned out better than his second attempt.

6.Blade (1998 DVD)
     -Recorded in March 2015
-This was Marvel's first successful cinematic film series. Spawning two sequels with Snipes and a follow-up TV series that featured Kirk "Sticky Fingaz" Jones taking on the role.
-Blade has shown up in various video games and cartoons after the success of this film. His design typically borrows more from the movie than from the comics.
-Blade was created by Marv Wolfman and Gene Colan as a supporting character in the Marvel comic Tomb of Dracula, and was a part of a team known as "The Nightstalkers" before joining another group of undead hunters called "Midnight Sons".
